On Monday 24th of February we went on a trip. It was called outdoor education because we do a lot of outdoor stuff. The first place we went to was Totara Park. We did a lot of activities and the first thing we did was archery. I shot the arrow on the red which is the colour right next to the yellow,and the yellow is the bulls eye.




Facts

1. Matariki is celebrated by flying kites, having feasts (especially seafood), and spending time with friends and family.

2. Matariki was traditionally to remember the dead and celebrate new life.

3. Mata-ariki means eyes of god but Mata-riki means little eyes.

4. In 1940's Matariki had stopped being celebrated but in the 2000's people started celebrating it again.

5. Matariki is the Maori name for a cluster of stars named Pleiades.

6. A man has found out that he thinks that there are 9 stars instead of 7 and that they have been celebrating the wrong amount of stars all these years and said that he is going to try make everyone believe that there is actually 9 stars.

7. There is different names for the Matariki stars.

8. 6 stars have there names and one star remains nameless.

9. The star remains nameless because before a child goes to bed at night they can name that star.

10. Matariki has lots of myths or legends.
